Why do hair ends split?

To effectively combat a problem, you must first understand its causes.

What causes hair to start splitting and looking weak? Here are some of the most common reasons:

  • Aggressive washing and styling – frequent use of a straightener or curling iron can dry out the strands and make them brittle. Strong detergents in shampoos, intense friction during washing can also damage the lipid layer of the hair.
  • Frequent hairdressing treatments – chemical treatments such as dyeing, bleaching or permanent waves can weaken the natural protective barrier of hair, making it more susceptible to splitting.
  • Lack of moisture and nourishment – if hair is not properly moisturized, nourished and protected, it becomes dry, brittle and susceptible to damage.
  • Lack of emollients and proteins – these are the ones that create the hair’s natural barrier. Their absence causes the ends to break more quickly.
  • Not trimming regularly – Split ends will not heal on their own. Unfortunately, there is no magic glue that will glue them back together. If you do not trim them regularly, the problem will get worse.

*Remember not to hold on to splits, as any splits will only grow stronger.
  • Bad hair care habits – sleeping with wet hair, rubbing it hard with a towel, wearing tight updos – all of these weaken it.
  • Inadequate diet – lack of vitamins, minerals and appropriate fats in the diet can affect the condition of the hair, making it weaker and more prone to damage.

Now that you know where the problem is coming from, it's time to solve it!

How to prevent split ends?

1. Choose gentle shampoos

Shampoo is the first step in hair care – if you choose the wrong one, your hair will quickly lose moisture and elasticity. Avoid products with aggressive detergents (e.g. SLS), which can additionally dry out the strands. Instead, choose Long & Shiny Shampoo for long hair – its delicate formula washes hair effectively, but without damaging its natural protective barrier. Thanks to plant ingredients, it strengthens the hair along its length and prevents it from breaking .

*Remember that we wash the scalp with shampoo (preferably twice), and only apply the foam to the lengths.

2. Moisturize and nourish

Each wash should end with the application of conditioner – this is the basis of care if you want to avoid split ends. Long & Shiny conditioner for long hair smoothes, closes hair cuticles and prevents hair from frizzing . Thanks to natural ingredients, it intensively moisturizes and makes the strands stronger and more elastic.

*If your hair gets tangled, conditioner will make it easier to comb.

3. Oiling your hair – the key to healthy ends

Oiling is one of the best ways to regenerate and protect your ends. Even an hour of oil treatment before washing makes your hair more flexible and resistant to damage. Nutrition Sweet Almond Oil butter is the perfect choice for this treatment - rich in sweet almond oil, it intensively moisturizes, nourishes and strengthens your ends. Regular use makes your hair more resistant to breakage and splitting. 4. Secure the ends

If your hair is particularly demanding, it needs extra protection. Our raspberry range – Raspberry shampoo and conditioner – is a combination of three precious oils: raspberry seed, argan and macadamia , which act as a protective shield for the hair. The shampoo gently cleanses and strengthens, while the conditioner deeply regenerates and makes the ends smooth and full of life.

5. Trim regularly

While regular trims won’t completely prevent split ends, it’s an absolutely essential step to keeping your hair healthy in the long run. Even the best hair care routine won’t replace trimming split ends that have already become damaged. Remember, regular trims are also a great way to maintain a fuller hairline Hair care is not only about the right products, but also about taking care of yourself from the inside . A healthy, nutritious diet, drinking the right amount of water and minimizing stress have a huge impact on the condition of your hair. It is worth remembering that beautiful hair is the result of comprehensive care - both external and internal. In caring for yourself and your hair, take care of balance, peace and a daily dose of health - and not only for your hair, but for your entire body.
