How to care for dry hair?

Jak pielęgnować suche włosy?

Discover 7 steps to soft, shiny and calm scalp

If your hair feels more like hay than silk, you are not alone. Dry hair is one of the most common topics of conversation in hair salons, on forums and… in bathrooms, when we try to comb our ends without tears in our eyes. The truth is that most of us have had that “shack” on our heads at least once in our lives, which neither wants to be styled nor looks healthy. But don’t worry – dry hair can be tamed. And without a million cosmetics or hours spent in front of the mirror. All you need is a few sensible steps, the right hair care products and… a little patience.

Let's start from scratch

Dry hair is not always a matter of genes. Sometimes it is the result of hard water, too strong shampoo, too much heat styling, sun, chlorine or bleaching. And if we add to this an unnutritious diet and stress - we have a ready recipe for dull, brittle, rough strands. Interestingly, the scalp can also be dry - and then the problem begins at the roots.

That's why dry hair care starts with... washing. But not just any shampoo. The shampoo should be gentle, have a balanced pH and moisturizing ingredients. Avoid strong detergents such as SLS, because they only make the problem worse. Natural hair cosmetics are a good choice - especially those in bars.

Why?

Because they do not contain water, so their formula is more concentrated and rich. The Ultra Rich shampoo is a great example: it contains argan oil, aloe extract and a moisturizing complex that works for up to 72 hours. For dry hair - a dream. But shampoo alone is not enough. Hair conditioner is an absolute must-have. And it's not just about making hair easier to comb - although that is also important. A good conditioner should close the hair cuticles, retain moisture and add elasticity. It is important that it is not too heavy, especially if you have thin hair. Long & Shiny works great - it works lightly but effectively, and it goes with any shampoo from the same line.

What about oiling? Yes, but with one caveat: if you have lightened hair – be careful. Oils can react with pigments, cause yellowing or even stiffening of the strands. In such a case, it is better to use emollient hair masks or conditioners with oils already in the composition. And – oil on a base (e.g. aloe), not on dry hair from a straightener.

Fun fact: dry hair loves cool air. Drying it with a summer airflow closes the hair cuticles and makes the strands shinier. And if you use a straightener or curling iron – don't forget about thermal protection. And it's best to give up everyday heat in favor of delicate styling without temperature.

What else can you do? Introduce healthy fats into your diet ( avocado, olive oil, nuts ), drink more water, eat foods rich in B vitamins and zinc. Yes, hair care is also about what you have on your plate. And this is not a marketing slogan at all - a healthy diet for hair really works.

Finally: regular trimming of the ends. This is not a legend. Split ends will not regenerate, they will only "wander" higher. Trim your hair every 6-8 weeks - even minimally - and you will notice an improvement.

Dry hair is nothing to be ashamed of. It needs to be looked after. Proper hair care is not a punishment – it is a pleasure that eventually becomes a habit. Give your hair what it really needs: gentleness, attention and good ingredients. And it will reward you with the same – softness, shine and strength. No mess. No frustration. With results that you can really see.
